Mistakes happen even to the best of us – yet when your name is Nikon and you have 10 million Facebook fans – you know you're in a bad position. It began when Nikon reported that they had chosen to give a prize to Chay Yu Wei for figuring out how to "catch a plane in mid-air." The issue was that there was no plane in the first shot in any case. 

The photograph was so seriously altered that you could see it on any bigger screen (well, at any rate we saw it). Also that Nikon ought to have checked it with "bends" or "levels" in Photoshop. When it appeared that the things couldn't deteriorate, somebody posted the answer from the picture taker himself. To an inquiry "To what extent did you sit tight for that plane?" he answered: "Not very long! I was fortunate! Much thanks to you to such an extent!" 

The Web didn't take long to re

Nikon awarded a prize to Chay Yu Wei  for managing to “catch an airplane in mid-air”

However, “just by changing the levels you can immediately see it is photoshopped”

After a while Nikon responded and admitted their mistake
